RESIDENTIAL PROJECT
The request from this client was to have a bright, fresh living room. A young family with 2 children - they wanted the space to be bright and playful and were not afraid of using pattern and colour! With one existing sofa in tan leather and another in a chocolate cord fabric - these neutral pieces called out for some colour to meet the brief.
Most of the walls in a pale blue grey - which acts as a calming backdrop. I chose a vibrant yellow as a feature to the fireplace wall and layered up the colour in accents throughout the space. I introduced both bright colour and pattern in a wonderful, floral fabric used for the curtains at either end of the room. I then picked out colours from the curtains and had lots of cushions made up in dots, stripes and plain fabrics to coordinate the look.
A key feature in this space was an heirloom piece, a Queen Anne style chair in great condition, but needing new upholstery. The chair was languishing in an upstairs playroom used by the children. This piece was brought bang up to date with a vibrant, striped fabric and plain green velvet - again pulling colours from the curtain fabric. It makes an eye catching feature in the room - and has given an old piece of furniture a new lease of life.
